Feeling he has learned and achieved all there is to be had, Dr. Faustus sells his soul to the Devil, in exchange for ultimate knowledge and power. But are his newfound gifts enough to outweigh the eternal damnation he will eventually face? This theatrical masterpiece of the battle between good and evil comes to life in a striking new virtual version that is bound to delight any soul.


Casting is gender/race-blind and parts may be doubled/divided.

  • CHORUS: The Chorus relates the prologue, tells of Faustus's experiences, and also offers the final comments at the end.

  • FAUSTUS: Faustus sells his soul to the devil in exchange for limitless knowledge and powerful black magic. In the end, he is too proud to ask God for forgiveness, and his pride ultimately seals his fate.

  • MEPHISTOPHILIS: Lucifer's right hand man, he satisfies Faustus's wishes. He acts as his evil companion.

  • WAGNER: Faustus's student and servant, Wagner presses Robin the clown into service as his own servant and eventually gains his own magical abilities.

  • VALDES: A magician, Valdes teaches Faustus black magic.

  • CORNELIUS: Cornelius also teaches Faustus magic.

  • GOOD ANGEL: Good Angel attempts to convince Faustus that salvation is still possible and that he must turn away from evil.

  • EVIL ANGEL: Evil angel convinces Faustus that salvation is not possible and he will be torn apart if he tries.

  • SCHOLARS: Two Scholars come in search of Faustus, only to find that he has started on a path from which he cannot return.

  • CLOWN: A jester who attempts to poke fun at the seriousness of how men live their lives.

  • LUCIFER: Lucifer convinces Faustus to give up his prayers to God once and for all and to agree to a deal with him.

  • BELZEBUB: Another of Lucifer's servants.

  • POPE: Having grown arrogant and abusive in his power, Pope Adrian is humiliated by Faustus and Mephistopheles

  • FRIAR: Assigned by the Pope, they curse, with bell, book and candle, the “spirit” which has upset the pope's banquet.

  • ROBIN: A servant and clown to Wagner and sometimes a magician.

  • RALPH: Friends with Robin, is accused by Vitner of stealing.

  • VINTNER: He accuses Robin and Ralph of stealing a cup from the tavern.

  • EMPEROR: Faustus visits his court and entertains him with magic.

  • KNIGHT: Knight to Emperor Charles V, right hand man.



  • Auditions will be conducted virtually on June 9th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and June 12th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm in individual 10 min. time slots.

  • Auditions will consist of actors performing one of the offered monologues (see link below to select from choices) and possible cold reads from the script.

  • Rehearsals will take place virtually, beginning the week of August 1st and taking place three nights/week for approx. 2 hours each.

  • No green-screens will be required for this production (a solid color wall or background will suffice).

  • Performances will be pre-recorded and streamed October 29 & 30, 2021.
